Invoicing:

Can you customize invoices and create templates?

You can customize invoices with your firm's name, address, phone number, and logo, but templates are not currently available.

Are invoices customizable to show which attorneys performed work?

Yes. You can add a staff member to the note field in the line item on the invoice. Or when adding a time entry note, the associated staff member will show on the invoice.

Can you edit the time entries on an invoice?

Yes, each line item listed on an invoice can be deleted and edited before being sent.

Can you choose the ending date of time entries for the invoice? (Ex: If you only want to bill for the month prior.)

To eliminate or limit time entries or line items that automatically populate a client’s invoice, you can simply delete the matter before sending it.

Can you save the invoices and have someone else later send it?

In a way, yes. Under the correct permissions, someone else could create an invoice for a particular client managed by someone else.

Can you prepare lots of invoices at once?

Because LawPay Pro dynamically organizes any entry input in its system, it prepares invoices for you on the backend. You need to tell the system to create an invoice—indicate who it is for and which matter is being worked on. Any items associated with your requested credentials will auto-populate to create an invoice.

Can you view how a client's trust payment before sending out an invoice?

You can view a client’s trust history before sending out an invoice, which can help you determine how much to request on the invoice for a trust account.

Billing:

Can you do batch billing?

Batch billing is not currently available in LawPay Pro.

Can discounts be applied, which differ per line item?

Discounts can be made by $ or % by selecting the drop-down next to the $ field when creating an invoice. This feature automatically updated the invoice to reflect the discount.

Can you do LEDES billing?

It does not support LEDES billing.

Can you surcharge or pass the fees to your clients?

Not at this time. However, our team is always looking to make enhancements to the LawPay Pro system in future versions.

Trust accounts:

Is there a fee for a transfer from the trust (already in our accounts)?

Payment processing fees are associated with any Refunded Transaction. However, creating the record in LawPay Pro that the Trust payment was refunded would not initiate a fee (as it is simply creating the record).

Time tracking:

Is there a way to clock in time in real-time (as we are working on a matter)?

There are built-in timers that work as stopwatches. Simply start when you begin working on a case, then stop when you're finished. This time will be associated with the proper case and work type. You will be able to have up to five timers.

Can a logged-in user create time entries for other timekeepers?

Yes. You can track time for yourself or another timekeeper, such as an attorney who manually keeps track of his or her time but does not want to log into the system regularly.

Payments:

Can a client make a partial payment?

Partial payments are accepted and recorded in LawPay Pro. LawPay Pro also allows for payment plans.

Is it possible not to store credit card information?

Yes.

Reporting:

Can you generate a trust ledger report by the client and matter?

Yes. In a trust ledger report, you can filter trust account activity by date and a specific contact but not by a specific matter.

Can you create time reports for individual clients for use in court pleadings?

The user time & expenses report allows you to see all time and expenses for any given time window. However, you can't filter by client or case.

How easy is getting your data and info out of the app if you stop using Law Pay Pro?
